From her first day of school at Beacon Hills High ( aka: her intro on the show ) we see right away that Kira is not a cool girl. Well, not "cool" in the traditional high school kid way, at least. She babbles, she blushes, and she tries way harder than any naturally "cool" kid does. For whatever reason, she has a hard time of being the "new girl", and she even spends a few lunches with her dad ( who's a teacher at the school, how embarrassing ) instead of out on campus or in the cafeteria. She expresses that she wants to be social, so it's not that she's shy or anything ( quite the opposite, actually ), she just takes a little time before putting herself out there and trying to talk to her new classmates. ...Well, okay, Scott McCall and his friends, but whatever. She would call herself awkward, but it's not so terrible that people feel awkward just being around her, it's more because she's just so cheerful and friendly and tends to just say these really honest things without putting much thought into how weird it might make her sound. Not offensive! Or "brutal", as some forms of honesty can be, she's just very genuine and open. Which also makes her a terrible, terrible liar.
Which is why it's great that she's a genuinely good person. She's an optimist, a do-gooder, and a loyal, caring friend. She's not afraid to break the rules, but only if it's in the name of doing the right thing. She can be the voice of reason just as easily as she can be the friend that motivates you to get through an impossibly difficult obstacle. And she likes being that friend, likes being there for the people she cares about, no matter what. One of the only things she openly argues about with her parents ( well, her mother ) is whenever she brings up that they're trying to move back to New York, or if she's trying to talk her out of doing something dangerous with the rest of the pack. She refuses to give up on any of them, and it's entirely because they've made her feel welcome in a town that she had a difficult time getting situated into. Her mother's made comments about how she had friends at her old school, and that she's had other boyfriends before, but it's all very different in Beacon Hills, especially now that she knows she's not entirely human anymore.
While the power she has as a kitsune is still being explored, the fact that she's been marked as a "trickster spirit" yet still acts responsibly, says a lot about her. She could use her power to goof around, or something darker, but it's clear she respects the hell out of what she is and what she can do. Although alright, she definitely taps into her kitsune side a little bit now that she's on the lacrosse team, but she would never ever use her powers to hurt someone, or to cheat or get ahead in some way, either. She's just trying to fit in, and learn to live what what she is and what she can do. "With great power comes great responsibility" and all that jazz, and she lives up to that by respecting the gravity of what she can do. And the same goes for her friends that are supernatural beings, like Scott's werewolf side, and Lydia's banshee side. She respects that part of them, and also kind of admires it, too. Most importantly, she's not afraid.
Kira's bravery is what sticks out to me most, because it's honestly above and beyond what most people, let alone teenagers, are capable of. When her mother was explaining to her what she is and what she could do, she was freaked out, sure, but she didn't run from it or reject it. She carries her katana proudly, and at this point it's not even a question of whether or not she's going to help out in whatever plans Scott and Stiles has for keeping their friends and the people of Beacon Hills safe, it's what part she's going to play in it. She trusts her friends so much, and even though she's vocal about her concerns and ideas, she's never the one that's trying to talk them out of it. Then again, her bravery isn't always a good thing, not when it translates into reckless decisions on the fly, just because a part of the plan's gone wrong. She has no trouble acting on impulse, and while most of the time she's gotten out of it okay, that might not always be the case. Still, it usually comes back to her trusting and caring about her friends so much, wanting to protect them more than anything else, and having faith in the fact that they would do the same for her.
While she's reckless at times, and on more than one occasion has been quick to make a decision that ultimately backfired in an "uh oh" way, she's actually very bright. Kira cares a lot about school, and staying on top of all the things in her life that aren't related to the whole supernatural thing. She actually tries really hard to stay in touch with that side of her, and tries to encourage her friends to do the same, not wanting to give up a "normal" life just because they're werewolves and werecoyotes and banshees. She wants to go on dates! And go to parties! And pass her SATs! While also protecting the entire town from all the evil supernatural stuff that lurks in the shadows. That's possible, right?
Powers:
thunder kitsune;;
foxfire; While we don't see Kira manipulate electricity beyond repairing her mother's katana, we do see a number of times that she can absorb and "control" huge, huge, huge amounts of electricity at a time. From blowing out a lightbulb in her bedroom, to easily absorbing, according to Stiles, 1.21 gigawatts of raw, sparking electricity when Barrow tries to kill her. ..1.21 gigawatts is just a movie reference, but, basically he meant a whole lot. We haven't been shown what she can do with all that stored energy just yet, but maybe it's what fuels the rest of her abilities. In the episode she's being pulled from, she uses her power to fake-kill Scott. Which... I have no idea how it works, they never explained it, but basically she just shocked him enough to drag his heart-rate reallyreallyreallyreally low. Low enough to make a heart monitor flatline.
fighting skills; Despite a lack of formal training, once Kira's powers start to manifest, she finds herself able to just do things, like flip off cars and run extraordinarily fast. It appears she has the same sort of endurance, stamina, strength, and speed as the werewolves in the canon do, and that it's all instinctual. Which... basically just means they're all advanced, compared to humans. She also learns how to use a katana almost effortlessly, even telling Scott that she's been picking it up a lot quicker than expected. Kira's mom later explained that the katana is her weapon, that it's a part of her, in a way. She also pretty instinctually knows how to fight hand-to-hand as well, which she only learned she could do once she was faced with a threat and had to fight the Oni to try and protect Stiles. It was pretty badass.
protective aura; ( healing ) As explained to her by her mother, Kira's never been sick, and she never will get sick, because the kitsune has healing abilities. While Kira is never injured badly enough to show this power, in a flashback we see Noshiko heal from multiple gunshot wounds, over a few hours time. When Scott is searching for Kira at the blacklight party, he uses his alpha eyes to try and tune his senses in a little clearer, and ends up scoping out Kira's aura, which looks like a fiery fox outlining her body. This image is also shown when Kira takes a picture of herself with the flash on, and while at first she thought he looked like a "demon from hell", Scott explains that he thinks it looks like something more positive, like protective armor. Do you want a power wipe? No, thanks! As for power reductions, I'm up for her powers all being reduced by half. her control over electricity won't be as powerful, her fighting skills will be more like- a highly-trained martial artist, instead of the whole ~supernaturally strong/fast~ deal, and her healing will max out after a while. I'm up for talking specifics if there's anything that pings the mod as too strong, but generally speaking I'm up for powering her down pretty much any amount. I'd just like for her to keep them in some capacity, since she's still learning about them in canon. Suitcase: she'll be wearing this outfit, so please include: - this outfit - this outfit - her her lacrosse jersey - and her first tail. ( which is technically a weapon [ even if she wouldn't ever use it as one ] so I'm okay with it being nixed if thats not cool ) Surprise? Yes!
SAMPLES
Network Sample: Hey there, total strangers I've decided to video chat with, despite the various lectures I've gotten from my parents about e-stranger danger.
[ here, have a single wave and a big smile from Kira! who then... sighs, and winces at herself. it's been a few hours since she got here, a few hours she used to lie down and calm herself down, so she's already in her room, broadcasting from a spot at the edge of her bed. ]
I don't know why I said that, that was- [ she shakes her head, laughs. oh god somebody save her, or just put her out of her misery. either one. ] Anyway. I'm sure you guys get this a lot, but I'm kind of hoping to find some of my friends on here. If they are on here, I don't know. I've never heard them talk about anything like this before. Usually we just text. I think- most people text, right? But anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm hoping to find out if any of my friends are here. Physically here would be even better, yeah. Even if I'm still not- 100% sure where I am right now.
[ which she's not going to think about in detail again because well she so is the type to think herself into panicking a little bit. badass katana-wielding kitsune or not, she doesn't like the whole "you've been kidnapped" vibe she's getting right now ]
But anybody else from Beacon Hills, or - [ my mom and dad. I wouldn't mind seeing my mom and dad right now. no oh my god Kira you can't just ask for mommy and daddy, pull yourself together. be cool. ] - um, no, that's it. If anybody else from Beacon Hills is here, let me know. And not just because I've got some cool news to share with you guys.
Considering this whole- unexplained hotel vacation kind of overshadows any good news I could possibly have, right? But. Maybe not. I don't know.
